Position Overview

The Family Support Specialist delivers parenting education services to families with children ages 0-5. The Family Support Specialist receives training in SafeCare®, an evidence-based program to help parents build skills to face challenges at home and to provide a positive, safe environment for their children.

Job Type: Full-Time

Starting Salary: $28/hr

Work Location: 100 Masonic Ave, San Francisco, CA 94118 | Onsite/ Offsite


Qualifications

  • Possess an Associate's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.

  • Ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Experience working with at-risk families (preferred).

  • Have or be willing to acquire CPR & First-Aid certification.

  • CA driver’s license and DMV clearance.


Responsibilities

  • Teach parents about child preventive health measures, how to identify symptoms of childhood illnesses and injuries, and appropriate responses including the use of health reference materials, charts, and basic health supplies.

  • Educate parents in the provision of activities that are motivating, promote positive interactions with their children, and prevent troublesome child behavior.

  • Provide supportive counseling to parents, including positive and corrective feedback.

  • Provide case management as needed and conduct baseline and follow-up assessments.

  • Maintain timely and thorough case records.

  • Required to visit families in their home.
